Weekend Round Up!

Ground turkey and quinoa chili. I combined a few recipes and came up with this:
1 package - ground turkey
1 cup - prepared quinoa
1 can - light kidney beans
1 can - great northern beans
1 can - fiesta corn
I used half a jug of tomato juice.
1 can - rotel
chili powder
cumin
red pepper flakes
ground cheyenne
black pepper
(I did all of the seasonings to taste. I like my chili a little spicy and since the ground turkey doesn't have much flavor I added a little more than the recipe called for)

The boys sniffed out the quinoa in .1 seconds and refused to eat it.

Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookies. Recipe is in my Dessert board on Pinterest. Very good! Again, Trevor finished off the bag of butterscotch chips, but refused to eat these. Head shake....

A paragraph from "Gone Girl" that I thought appropriately described realistic relationships.

My Sunday night. I really need to watch it again without interruptions, but it was good.

And, the best part of my weekend, Saturday afternoon spent with Steele. I spent some of the afternoon smelling his head and making him smile:)

Happy Birthday Trev!

Trevor celebrated his 9th birthday this weekend and yesterday, which was his actual birthday. We invited two friends of his and one of Tyson's friends to stay at the Holiday Inn and go to a Tri City Storm hockey game on Saturday night. Everything was great, besides the impending blizzard we were supposed to get which made for a windy, frigid evening.

Last night we had a quiet celebration at home with tuna noodle casserole (Trevor's request) and a red velvet cake. Trevor received a phone for his birthday and mom and dad got hugs:)

Good morning world!

We've been in a malt mood lately

Didn't need it anyway:) I know cool people who don't have pinkies.

Ahhh

He/she missed me and was being nice, weird.

Goin for the gold and had so much fun doing it!

HOLA and ADIOS CABO!

Here's a quick vacation update from my trip to Cabo last week. I went with my sister-in-law and it was the most relaxing time of my life. It did take me a day or so to get the hang of "vacation", but by the third day I wasn't ready to leave!! The trip was an adventure at times (getting a little lost in a dark neighborhood in San Jose, para sailing, and a rocky boat ride to see Lands' End). The sun felt amazing and I'm clinging to every bit of this tan!! Enjoy:)

Hola Grand Faro Resort

So green, so beautiful!

Our first night out!

We met some Canadian friends!

Waiting to para sail:)

Me! This was the most serene moment.

I'm on a boat! And, my life jacket is 7 times too big:)
I may have taken this off mid-boat ride, and it may have fallen in the ocean, and our boat may have had to turn around and get it and a lot of Germans may have been annoyed:)

Holding on for dear life!
Lands' End

Our last morning, beautiful sunrise

HOLA, and ADIOS!

Rock Star Status

I couldn't resist posting this video of Tyson. He usually gets shy when he realizes I'm recording him, but this time he just went for it. My favorite part is right before it's over. Not sure what that "move" is called, but he definitely got his rhythm from moi.

My Teeth Whitening Secret

I don't hear many people talk about this product, but I first heard about it from Kandee Johnson on YouTube. It was a really old video when I watched it, but I went out and bought it. It didn't work. WTH. Then I found another video of hers where she explained they had changed the formula and it wasn't as effective. Ok.... Anywho, they've changed the formula back and it's great!!

So, Kandee's advice was to buy the mouth guards that kids use for sports and mold them to your mouth. So I did that. Every morning before I hop in the shower I smear this over my top and bottom teeth, only in the front. Then put on my mouth guards and shower as normal.

This product is gradual if you use it the way I do, but I've also used it twice a day and it worked rapidly. The best part, no sensitivity!! Oh, I forgot the second best part, it's cheap! $5 or something for this tube. There are some kits that come with a mouth rinse and the trays. I haven't tried those.

Happy whitening!

Annual Check-Ups

Just wanted to share a couple funny pictures from Trevor's eye doctor appointment and Tyson's dentist appointment. Trevor also went to the dentist, but I didn't get a pic. He wasn't very happy during that visit anyway because he had to get two fillings. Melt down like you've never seen it! Worse than when he hid from me at the doctor's office during his flu shot. Well, maybe not worse than that, but close.

Trevor loved his dilation glasses and actually was mad when he realized later he left them at his dad's. His vision is 20/20, so he can stop complaining about not being able to read or do his homework because he can't see the page. Pff..
