Weekend Round-Up

The weekend was pretty darn nice! Friday evening the boys and I had dinner with my parents. I started my meal with a little appetizer of reisling and fudge covered oreos:)

While our dinner cooked, I threw on a couple prom dresses. Yep, big ego boost!

And...so did this guy:)

Then Tyson shook his butt in Grandma's face during dinner. The mood immediately dropped when he decided to give her a little more than she bargained for and dropped those superman undies. We discussed going a little too far with our silliness:)

Tyson got down on some "spasparagus"

And we jammed out to "Joe, Joe, Joe Diffy!" all the way home

Just helping himself to some beverage

And I did the same. Although, rumchata and bud light lime don't seem to mix well. Weird.

Saturday morning I went to the craft fair with a friend. We bought nothing, but it's ok because when I got home this arrived!

Then I attempted to run in the 200 mph wind gusts and drank this when I got home. The packet is matcha (ground green tea), it's what Starbucks uses in their green tea lattes and fraps. Mmmm!

On my way to hockey!! Really fun game. They lost, but it actually kept my attention.

And after a work-out on Sunday, I got the privilege of doing this:(

And this. But, I'm swearing off National Geographic documentaries. Can't do it. Nope, nope!

I Know It's the Circle of Life, But...

I recently cancelled my cable. The real reason is because the box broke and we didn't watch it for two weeks, then I realized we probably wouldn't miss it.

Instead, I opted for Netflix. Then my wonderful mother, who visits me once a week to do manly things a husband would do, but also womanly things a lesbian lover would do, hooked up an antenna so we now get local channels.

So, last night after our totally rad homemade pizza party (mine was awesome, hamburger, turkey pepperoni, red pepper, red onion, green olive, black olive and capers!! whew), we sat down for a little educational documentary about YellowStone National Park on PBS. Harmless, right? Wrong!! Holy, Mother Nature. We're talking full on hunt, kill, mangle, chew....and the audio on this thing was on point. Every bone cracking, gnawing, squirting noise came through loud and clear. Trevor was enthralled. I was devastated.

#1, is this ok to show on tv? Wait, it's life, of course it's ok. #2, what's coming up next?! The breeding process??

So...we pulled ourselves together after that and had some root beer floats and a huge tickle session. I wonder when they'll be too old for me to tickle them on their upper thigh. It's the best spot!!!

Watching...

O.M.G. did that just happen?!

And this guy, just not interested in the Circle of Life

It Has Arrived!

It seems like people started talking and thinking about my 30th birthday when I turned 28. Well, I did at least. 28 meant that 30 was right around the corner. It was just sitting there staring me down. To tell you the truth, turning 28 was much harder than turning 30. I guess because I gave myself two years to get used to it.

In those two years a lot happened. Most of it wasn't great and I grew and became a very different person in those two years. As I approached 30, I was in the best place I've been in the last few years. I couldn't be more excited.

I'm such a lucky girl to have the people I do in my life. My aunt and I share a birthday and I've always known it was special. I celebrated my actual birthday with my family. My boys, parents, aunt, uncle and my cousin made a trip to Grand Island to eat at Fuji. The evening was so fun! We took some saki bombs, flipped food into our mouths and tried lots of different things for the first time. We went home with full bellies and sleepy boys!

I was lucky enough to have two birthday celebrations! Saturday my friends and I traveled to the horse races and then back to Kearney for a great night out.

Thank you to everyone who made the time to celebrate with me. In the crazy, busy world we live, I know how hard it can be!

These are the friends that have stood behind me, beside me and even in front of me (dragging me at times) through life. Many people have turned their back on me, for decisions I've made or failed to make, but they haven't. They just love me unconditionally.

The bliss I felt on my birthday was unimaginable. It meant so much more than just celebrating the day of my birth. It felt like a rebirth! The great part, I get to go back to the person I was 10 years ago and be her again, but I also get to be this person I've become. I think it's a pretty great mix.
