My Glimpse at a Teen

Trevor and I charish the time we spend together in the car. We get to talk, eat, laugh and fight while we're in the car for about 2 hours each day. This weekend daddy was driving, so mom got to help Trevor practice is letters and spelling. He wrote "Trevor", "Cody", "Jenni", then he had an idea...I could tell his wheels were turning, but I wasn't sure what he was thinking. He started by saying "mom...how do you spell..." "mom...are you gonna laugh at me when I ask you this?" I smiled and said, "of course not". He paused for a few moments and said "well, I was wondering how to spell...could you tell me how to spell....ILOVEASHYLNN!" There were no spaces between the words as they were blurted out of his mouth. He stared at me with these eyes of anticipation. I glanced at Cody to see if he had heard these words that came out of our nearly 5 year olds mouth. He had, but I could tell he was trying very hard not to laugh. I slowly told him each letter and helped his space his words. When he was finished, he folded the piece of paper and put it in his pocket. I was happy that he hadn't felt too embarressed to ask me how to spell such a scary sentence and it made me feel good that he trusted me:)

Delay in Service

This is an important blog post. I have lost my usb cord to my camera, so I can't download the numerous pictures I have on my camera...therefore, my posts have dwindled. I may have taken it home, so it's a matter of bringing my "work" brain into my home, instead of leaving it at the door and putting on my "home" brain.

Not much going on here. I haven't seen my husband in days due to our schedules. I've been busy with work and volunteering and his 7:30 bed-time is causing a problem:) He's still getting used to his new schedule at Coke. Not sure if I posted that earlier or not, but Cody got a new job driving truck for Coke. He passed his CDL test and he has the Holdrege route. He delivers to Holdrege, Axtell, Oxford, Arapahoe and Alma. All over.

We're planning Trevor's b-day. He'll turn 5 on March 11. I remember thinking to myself, "when is this kid going to turn 5?!" I thought 5 was the magic number when they become people, in turn becoming easier to take care of. I think I was right. He elected to use the Neti Pot on his own this morning. Wow, don't watch people do that! Ugh...I won't go into detail on this one, but it relates back to the bloody noses. We love the Neti Pot though:)

Kids Say the Darndest Things!

So, as a family, we spend a lot of time arguing about what to watch. Yes, we have 3 t.v.'s, which would mean that each person in our family would have a tv to themselves and Tyson would be neglected:) So, on Sunday Trevor wanted to watch this Scooby Doo movie we borrowed from the Cope's (we're gonna get that back to you soon). He had watched it a total of 3 times and it was 10 a.m. I politely told Trevor that I didn't want to watch that movie again, I'd watch cartoons but that not freaking movie again! He didn't like that answer and insisted on watching it.

I became a 3 year old and said, "well, Tyson is on my team and we don't want to watch it." Trevor asked Tyson if he wanted to watch it and Tyson shook his head no. Keep in mind, this is all Tyson does. "Tyson you want chicken nuggets?" Head shake. "Tyson you want some juice?" Head shake. So, Trevor knows that no, may actually mean yes. Anyway, Tyson and I are on a team and we voted no, so Trevor recruits his dad for his team. Cody, of course, feels sorry for him so he agrees to be on Trevor's team. I get an idea that I'm sure will seal the deal. I say "I call the cat, Roxy, Selma and Cubby to be on my team and they all voted that they don't want to watch Scooby Doo." He replies "uh huh, they're not on your team." I say, "yep, I called them, they're on my team." Trevor's final response is, "mom, you can't call them, they don't even have cell phones."

Wow, we can't even use the phrase "I call ___" like we used to when we were kids because our technology based children will associate it to cell phones, not even regular phones, "cell phones".

Christmas with the Pap/Ep/Klings

I have about a dozen pictures of him standing on stuff.

He squeeled like a little girl when he opened this dairy thing.

Santa dropped by before heading back to the North Pole.

Adjusted Airplane

Uncle Go Go used to do the airplane with Trevor, but he's since had to adjust his method to satisfy two children. He went with the spin.

Christmas Morning

Lovin the camo

He got new slippers that made him walk funny

Trevor's new horse. Spirit!

The horse was named Cupid from 7-8, then Comet from 8-9, and after their ride down to grandma's it came back Spirit:) She's the nicest horse and we love feeding her apples.
