Wow, 2nd Grade!

Today Trevor and I are going shopping for school supplies. He doesn't seem thrilled. I remember school shopping so vividly. I think girls are different than boys though. I still, to this day, love new "school" or office supplies. I'm almost giddy when a package arrives with new pens, tape and white out.

The start of school means that our lives can return to some sort of structure. We will once again have a bedtime, which should help the kids and adults get up easier in the morning! I'm longing for fall. These crisp morning really make me excited for open windows, the change of the leaves and pumpkin picking. Cody and I are also fed up with mowing and pulling weeds!

Funny Videos

I have a few videos that are just sitting in a folder on my computer. I don't upload them to Facebook, so I thought I'd upload them here so atleast they're somewhere! I'm guilty of not shooting enough videos and I know I'll regret it later.

For the Present and the Future

A friend of mine started updating her blog recently and it reminded me of mine. Poor, neglected blog:( Last night the boys and I sat down and looked through the old blogs posts. It reminded me why I started writing this blog. I wanted a memory book to be able to share with them. It's also nice to write down things, because even though I think I'll never forget the funny things they do and say, life gets busy, years past, and memories start to fade. Even as I was reading through the most recent blog posts I found myself saying, "wow, I forgot he used to do that."

So, the blog continues! Trevor is a roaring seven years old. Blonde, tan and cute as an angel. He's quite angelic in his attitude and behavior too. Cody and I know how lucky we are to have a little boy like him. He's very helpful, after a little moaning and groaning and he tries so hard to guide Tyson, but of course, Tyson's stubborn and independent personality gets in the way. Ah Tyson, he's Trevor's "reality check". Before we had Tyson, Trevor was spoiled rotten and was sure the earth revolved around him. BOOM! In comes Tyson and rocks Trevor's world. Tyson demands attention, but not in a self-seeking way. He makes me laugh a lot and I can tell Trevor is envious of that. Tyson is a cross between my dad and Cody's dad (short, stocky and solid). His favorite thing to say right now is, "mom, guess what", "what Tyson", "Chicken Butt!!" I know that some day we'll miss this, but that time isn't now!! Tyson is a rhymer. He likes to rhyme, sing and make up words, which is complete nonsense to Cody, but I find myself humming along to his imaginary songs. The boys are beginning to play better together. There's usually a game of Mario Kart on the Wii and they even share the same interests in cartoons. Playing outside is still a struggle for Trevor, because he doesn't have much imagination. He never has.

Both boys are over the moon excited about going to Minnesota in a couple weeks. Their cousin Mason is 1 1/2 and is starting to talk. I think he'll be a lot of fun this trip:) My mom and brother built Mason a sand box when we were there over Easter and I think they'll all have fun playing in it. We're also planning on going to the Minnesota State Fair. We took Trevor one of the first times we visited my brother and it was so much fun! I can't wait to go back and this time Tyson and Cody get to come.

Signing off for now. I'll leave you with a recent photo:)

It's Here....

I'm referring to Kindergarten. Wow, I remember wishing and wishing it would get here. Mostly because I wanted my daycare bill to go down. Now it's here... Still trying to get used to it. Spending a lot of my day wondering what he's doing, how he's behaving, if he's being shy or the regular Trevor I know. He's very smart and I think he'll do fine. As soon as his "summer brain" wears off he'll be excited to learn new things.
I'm finding myself looking at old pictures of Trevor and Tyson as babies. When you're in the moment... changing diapers, bottles, wiping noses, catching drool, chasing, searching, rocking, mixing...you don't get to enjoy them as much as you should. So, thank goodness for pictures. They bring me back to those moments and let me enjoy them again.

Tyson was so chunky. Not fat, just solid. I found some old pictures on my camera and I'll upload one. Wow, what a healthy boy. He's so different from Trevor. It's incredible how two boys can come from the same two people and be so different. I love both of them and I love their differences. It's really like having the best of both worlds. Tyson does mimick everything that Trevor does. It's funny to watch. Trevor eats it up:)
Tyson is now alone at good ole Pumpkin Patch. I can tell he's not as comfortable when we get there. No more Big Brother Security Blanket:) I can tell that his teachers enjoy having Tyson around. He missed a day on Tuesday and they were all excited to see him on Wednesday. I'm sure the day isn't the same without him, good or bad:) He likes to say "noooo" lately. Not just "no", it's "nooooooo". Then he smiles. He still never says "bye" it's always "see ya". It's also not "yes" it's "yah". I think he's spending too much time conversing with his Minnesota relatives or maybe he has a girlfriend in Canada.
I forgot to take a picture of the completed "Play Ground" so I'll be sure to do that and upload a picture. They love it and it helps take some energy out of them before bed.

My Glimpse at a Teen

Trevor and I charish the time we spend together in the car. We get to talk, eat, laugh and fight while we're in the car for about 2 hours each day. This weekend daddy was driving, so mom got to help Trevor practice is letters and spelling. He wrote "Trevor", "Cody", "Jenni", then he had an idea...I could tell his wheels were turning, but I wasn't sure what he was thinking. He started by saying "mom...how do you spell..." "mom...are you gonna laugh at me when I ask you this?" I smiled and said, "of course not". He paused for a few moments and said "well, I was wondering how to spell...could you tell me how to spell....ILOVEASHYLNN!" There were no spaces between the words as they were blurted out of his mouth. He stared at me with these eyes of anticipation. I glanced at Cody to see if he had heard these words that came out of our nearly 5 year olds mouth. He had, but I could tell he was trying very hard not to laugh. I slowly told him each letter and helped his space his words. When he was finished, he folded the piece of paper and put it in his pocket. I was happy that he hadn't felt too embarressed to ask me how to spell such a scary sentence and it made me feel good that he trusted me:)
